Approval: January 22, 2013
START: December 18, 2012
END: January 18, 2013

Located off of Army Camp Road, the project site is approximately 349 acres. The solar farm is producing 20 MW of energy under the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP) program (not the FIT program that is currently offered by the Ontario Power Authority). The farm is using thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules manufactured by First Solar. These panels were assembled by Six Nations community members at the Oneida Business Park. The project will consist of 20 arrays of photovoltaic panels, which consist of 16,860 PV modules. The 2.1 meters high fixed panels will be fenced in. There is a tree screen and the area outside the fenced area which will be rehabilitated with native plant species and grasses. The project was sold to Fiera Axium Infrastructure Inc.

Project Benefits:

  • $1000/MW = $20,000 per year for 20 years ($400,000)
  • Employment and Training Opportunities
    • Pre- Constructions: Approximately 90 workers from Six Nations were employed assembling panels
    • Construction: 200-300 employees for 1 year. The panel assembly workers were offered employment at the farm site.
    • Maintenance & operation: two permanent employees that will monitor site and performance
