GUNN’S HILL WIND FARM

Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm is an 18MW wind project located on privately owned land as well as municipal easements (electrical lines only) in the Township of Norwich, Oxford County, Ontario.

Project Information: At Time of Engagement

The Project was awarded a Feed-In-Tariff contract with the Ontario Power Authority. The project is 25 megawatts with 10 wind turbines which will be owned and operated by Gunn’s Hill Windfarm Inc.

Project Benefits

Six Nations has a 10% Equity purchase option in the Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm. Six Nations capital contribution will be approximately 1.8 million, which is estimated to generate revenue in excess of $3 million over 20 years. In the event, Six Nations is unable or unwilling to proceed with an equity interest, the community benefit will default to a royalty stream as follows:

Royalty Default provision: $1000/MW/year for 20 year term of FIT Contract ($360,000)

Other project benefits, regardless of Equity or Royalty:

  • $4,000 per year for 20 years from the Gunn’s Hill Wind Farm Aboriginal Student Bursary for post secondary education will be exclusively available to Six Nations of the Grand River members.

  • If Six Nations members are interested in employment Prowind will ensure all resumes are passed to the hiring offices and considered for employment.

Gunn’s Hill reached commercial operation in November 2016. It is capable of producing 18MW of solar power with 10 turbines. Gunn’s Hill LP is a partnership between Prowind Canada Inc., Oxford Community Energy Co-Operative Inc., and Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (10% Ownership).
